Dr. Fortney was born and raised in Northern New Jersey. From a young age, she was inspired by her mother, and decided to pursue a career in optometry. She moved to Bismarck, North Dakota in the summer of 2026.

She received her undergraduate education at Seton Hall University. She received her Doctorate of Optometry at Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2026.

During her optometric training, Dr. Fortney gained extensive experience in pediatric eye exams, including the diagnosis and treatment of binocular vision disorders. Additionally, she worked closely with children in vision therapy.
